Difference Between Air Cooled and Water Cooled Chiller

There are two main types of industrial water chillers: water-cooled and air-cooled. Although both types of chillers are used to cool liquids in industrial processes, they have different ways of repelling heat extraction. Therefore, the choice of which kind of industrial water chiller needs to consider the needs of the entire refrigeration system.

The air-cooled industrial water chiller is one of the most commonly used refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial facilities for water chiller manufacturers. The working principle is to absorb the heat in the processing water and then transfer the heat. It is suitable for areas where the heat dissipation problem is not very serious. Unlike water-cooled chillers, they use air as the fuel for condenser cooling. In most cases, an air-cooled industrial water chiller is used outdoors because the excess heat can be released into the ambient air.

The water-cooled industrial water chiller has a cooling tower, so it is more efficient than the air-cooled chiller. 

Some people may prefer water-cooled chillers such as chiller for laser machine to air-cooled chillers because they occupy a smaller volume and are more suitable for indoor use.

The traditional idea is that the water-cooled industrial water chiller is more efficient than the air-cooled industrial water chiller. If we only look at the cost of the compressor, it may be right. However, air-cooled chillers with the most advanced centrifugal compressors and variable speed control technology are often a better choice. When studying in depth, it is recommended to consider the overall operating costs associated with each chiller system and the amount of cooling required in the process.
